Why We Started Koffeeyap With One Coffee

Making a new friend starts with something small: a conversation.

But getting to that conversation can take more effort than it should. You have to find somewhere to meet people, introduce yourself, work out whether you have something in common, and turn a vague “we should hang out” into an actual plan.

We built Koffeeyap to help with that first step.

Our idea was simple: curated one-to-one coffee meetups for adults who want to make new friends. A person, a café, and an opportunity to talk.

Choosing this format shaped the whole company. We focused on independent cafés because they give people a familiar public setting and connect the experience to local businesses. We chose one-to-one introductions because that is the experience we wanted to make easier.

We also chose to skip the pre-chat. The introduction leads toward a real meeting, with the conversation happening over coffee.

That choice comes with responsibility. When we arrange an introduction, the timing, location, and communication all matter. A simple experience for the member requires careful work behind the scenes.

As we keep building, we return to the same question: does this help someone take a manageable first step toward friendship?

We cannot promise that every coffee becomes a close friendship. We can work to make meeting someone new easier to begin.

That is where Koffeeyap started, and it is still the purpose behind what we build.
