The Part of Matching We Had to Learn the Hard Way

Some of our most important lessons came when the experience did not work as smoothly as it needed to.

During our early journey, we briefly paused matching while addressing problems in our systems. There were issues with scheduling, notifications, and how changes were communicated.

For a member, those problems are personal. They may have paid, set aside time, or looked forward to meeting someone. An unclear update or a cancelled plan can undermine confidence in the whole experience.

That made our priorities clear.

We worked on making the meetup details more consistent: a single scheduled time, clearer café information, and stricter checks around the member’s city. We also addressed credit issues connected to affected sessions.

The lesson extended beyond any individual fix. Matching involves the whole path from an introduction to a meeting. Finding two compatible people is only part of the work.

Each person needs to understand the offer. Both need a way to confirm. If the plan changes, the update needs to reach them. If something goes wrong, there needs to be a clear next step.

We are sharing this because reliability has become a central part of how we think about Koffeeyap.

We are still building and improving. We cannot claim that every future meetup will go perfectly. We can take problems seriously, correct them, and use what we learn to improve the experience.

When people make room in their lives for a coffee, our job is to respect that time.
